Finger Footie Anyone?

Well, here is one of the projects I made for my little nephews to entertain them on a flight over seas. My brother-in-law is from Scotland so football is a huge part of his childhood. My three youngest kids have also enjoyed playing as well as two of my sons-in-law (one from the U.K. as well). In fact, my one son-in-law was quite envious of this game and told me that he and his friends used to play a "ghetto" version during class using a piece of paper as their pitch and just their fingers as players (sans puppets). The instructions and pattern are available in pdf at PickledillyCircus on Etsy.
I got the idea from a doll/puppet I used to have when I was little. I have also designed some fairy finger puppets and the main characters from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

can you guess my BIL's team? I did the
home and away kits so everyone can be
an M.U. player!

Sea Creature Mobile

So, after making Greta's mobile, I kind of got hooked. I made a couple of sea creature mobiles using patterns I found online at:
http://www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog/2007/11/supercute-sea-creature-patterns.aspx

I found the clam pattern at http://www.fiskarscrafts.com/projects/t_oceanfingerpuppets.aspx
although it  was originally a finger puppet.I found the stingray at : https://www.flickr.com/photos/paula_silva/7813808898/in/set-72157631138763048 but added the sequins instead of felt dots. The sea horse is one of my favorite pieces in this and I have used it in other mobiles that I will post later. I put this together using clear fishing line. I used real sea shells mixed with beads (to look like bubbles). The turtle is pretty much like a gingerbread man shape with circles over and under. This mobile was made for a friend's first grandson.

Bird & Flower mobile

My very first mobile for my niece.

gray bird.
Welcome to Pickledilly Circus! Here are some of the things that I have been working on for the past two years. I have combined patterns I have found online with ideas of my own to create a lot of these projects. One type of project that I really love doing is baby mobiles. So far, I haven't made any two the same...I have made 11 now and although some are similar, they are not exactly alike. I made my first mobile just two years ago. Each takes an average of 50 hours from designing them, making patterns, and then sewing them by hand. Sometimes the first pattern doesn't work out the way I'd like so I start again. As I go along on my blog, I am hoping to add patterns and instructions for making the mobiles, at least with the ones I have designed the patterns for myself. Otherwise, I will include the links for the websites where I found the patterns.
Greta's mobile completed.
I incorporated coral colored
beads and ribbon to match
her nursery.
Each of the birds on this mobile is just over 7.5 cm (3")long. The flowers are 5 cm (2") across. All are made from craft felt.
